Have you all had a wonderful Christmas? It's easy to get consumed with the festivities at this time of year but before you know it, December 31st is approaching fast and then it dawns on you - you haven't even thought much about your wine choices for New Year’s Eve yet!

Picking the right wine is always important for any special occasion, but it is especially important for New Years. After all, this is the one night of the year where we celebrate the year which has just passed and welcome in the next one. And, of course, we all want to celebrate the New Year in style!

So, don’t despair if your wine rack is looking a little bare this winter. Here at Cranville Wine Racks, we have put together our ultimate guide to the very best wines for the occasion. So if you are heading out to a New Year’s party, playing host to your own guests, or just enjoying a quiet New Year’s night in, we will have the perfect wine to accompany your evening.

Celebrating on a budget

Just because you are on a budget, it doesn’t mean that you have to settle for a mediocre wine. Choose one of our budget picks to celebrate the New Year without breaking the bank!

For a classic Champagne, try Veuve Fourny Blanc de Blanc ler Cru Champagne. 100% Chardonnay, elegance such as this is rarely found among lower-priced wines.

If that doesn’t float your boat, what about sampling some Marquis Belrive Champagne? This has a creamy palate combined with classic Champagne aromas thanks to the dominance of the Pinot Noir.

Classic bubbly

Nothing quite says New Years like a good bottle of bubbly.

Champagne Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is an excellent Champagne choice. Complex and lively, it has lovely undertones of pear and citrus fruits. Definitely worth the price tag.

Treat yourself this New Year, with Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs. A floral and refined Champagne, this would be perfect to welcome in 2017. If you can get hold of it, we recommend the 2005 vintage.

Wine rack alternatives

Of course, bubbly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you want to bring in the New Year while avoiding sparkling wine, try one of our alternate picks this year.

For a festive alternative, try Berlucchi Franciacorta Rosé. If you like the complexity of Champagne, give Franciacorta a whirl. Italy’s answer to Champagne, this rosé is refined, elegant, and the perfect accompaniment to cold meats and cheeses.

If red wine is more your thing, we recommend Nero D’Avola. It’s fruity and dark with smoky undertones, and pairs well with roast pork, beef, and turkey. Ideal for a rich addition to your New Year celebrations!

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing this New Year’s Eve, we would just like to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers a very happy and healthy New Year.

From all of the team here at Cranville Wine Racks - Happy New Year!
